Walmart launched its own voice assistant app called Ask Sam, one of many e-commerce chatbot examples, to help in-store associates with information that can assist them in doing their job more quickly and effectively and help customers find products, information, and good deals. This clever use of generative AI for employees helped them find products in a store quickly, look up sales information, access store maps, check emails, check employee’s work schedules, and do a lot more. This app also has an emergency feature where during high-stress situations, managers can send alerts to employees.

In 2023, Walmart partnered with Google to launch Walmart Voice Order. This allowed customers to use Google assistant to order groceries. They would just have to say “Ok Google, talk to Walmart” and have it add products to the cart. Google assistant would also provide suggestions to the customers based on the products purchased in the past.

 

Education - IBM’s Watson

 

IBM Watson Education Classroom is one of the education chatbot examples that is a computer system that allows teachers to deliver a personalized learning experience through cognitive computing. Its teaching methodology includes covering all - academic, social, and behavioral aspects of a student by understanding, reasoning, and learning the styles, preferences, and aptitude of every student.

Watson Education Classroom includes two components:

    1. IBM Watson Element for Educators is an IBM MobileFirstTM education application for Apple iOS. It provides teachers an understanding of their students by collecting several academic, social, and behavioral data sources. 
    2. IBM Watson Enlight for Educators is a browser-based planning tool that provides support for teachers through curated learning content and access to essential insights into student’s academic strengths and weaknesses. These valuable insights enable teachers to personalize their interactions with each student in the classroom.

Public Service - U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s EMMA

Emma is a computer-generated virtual assistant named after Emma Lazarus, who is remembered for writing the sonnet "The New Colossus", inspired by the Statue of Liberty, about helping immigrants. This virtual assistant answers your questions promptly and helps you find any immigration information you need. She is fluent in English and Spanish and interacts through text as well as speech. The chatbot uses machine learning and natural language processing and gets smarter and better with every interaction and its service now has a five-second response time. Guests have the comfort of asking simple questions that are promptly addressed, freeing up hotel employees from routine tasks. 

 

Manufacturing - Apple’s Siri

Siri is more than just a chatbot for all Apple users. It is a digital assistant powered by Apple intelligence that is protected by the strongest privacy and allows users to use their voice to control individual app functions on their phones. Its other voice assistant features include on-screen awareness that makes Siri understand and take action with things on the user’s screen.
